For the most part, all it has going for it is guns in a brooding city at night. But for a lot of people, including myself, that's really all we need. Kind of generic and lacks wit, but decent fun and not as bad as people say it is.
It is a lot better than it gets credit for. Dolph Lundgren look "dead and removed" as a man who has gotten his world taken away from him, but the image of seeing him naked in a sewer may be enough to put some viewers off and the fans will hate that he never puts on his iconic skull shirt. What is more problematic is it's bad editing and supporting characters with little to do, but the action is good.
All around pretty generic but the soundtrack (albeit unintentionally so) can be pretty hilarious at times.
Case in point those opening synths - http://goo.gl/GSCrJF - and this occurs during an (attempted) suspenseful moment.
