Gore Verbinski Amerika Syarikat, 2002

Nicholas Gregory's rating of the film The Ring

Ever-so-slightly more characterization, if still not effective enough in a near scene-for-scene, emotional beat-for-beat remake. Despite it being 25-odd minutes longer, it mostly is due to even more dull-and-unneeded investigation. While Verbinski's style is more polished than Nakata's murkier shadowplay, it's more inviting than ominous. A remake that doesn't correct the problems of the original, but lengthens them.
