Our take

The first Chinese-language film to win an award at Cannes, King Hu’s sumptuous, Ming-dynasty saga is a veritable masterpiece of the wuxia genre. Stunning us with its dynamic combat scenes and otherworldly beauty, A Touch of Zen breathtakingly brings a spiritual dimension to the drama of swordplay.
