Jason's rating of the film If Beale Street Could Talk

The only way to proceed in adapting James Baldwin is to get the right mix of humility and chutzpah; I cannot say that I am surprised that Barry Jenkins does. BEALE STREET is breathtakingly gorgeous from beginning to end. It is profound and very moving here and there. It doesn't have a traditional three act structure, but I do feel its failure to ultimately add up relates to problems w/ something like the final third.
