Few comic trends have aged as poorly as the GrimDark superhero books of the early Aughts, and you might consider Garth Ennis one of the godfathers of said movement. But to Ennis' credit: he was sick to death of the capes and cowl genre way before the MCU's complete global saturation. For better or worse, Amazon's "The Boys" might just be the nihilistic antidote for America's unfailing obsession with the costumed set.
Solid anti-hero satire of the superhero genre that doesn't transcend its genre trappings but provides an entertaining and often humorous season of revenge, mayhem and thwarted intents. Fairly well cast with lead Karl Urban stealing the show throughout.
I watched the whole series because it was funny. Lots of twists and turns. Good is bad, bad is good. They set it up in such a way that it could run for a couple of years. They found a good way to end the first season. Let's hope the rest is as good or better.
