Android Engineer
Full-Time, London or Vienna
MUBI is seeking a full-time Android engineer to join in London or Vienna. Our ideal candidate has strong knowledge of current approaches on Android and is generally a well rounded software engineer. Your primary role will be to drive and develop MUBI offerings on the Android platform, including phones and TV.
About MUBI
Available in over 200 countries around the globe and across multiple devices, MUBI brings you a new hand-picked film everyday that is available to watch for 30 days. At any time there are 30 films to choose from.

Our MUBI Android app is available worldwide via the Google Play Store on phones and TVs, as well as on Fire TV. Our MUBI GO app is available for phones and UK only for now.
Our ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who has strong experience working with native Android applications, preferably on TV and on phones. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of current and past Android APIs and architecture.

Our two Android apps – MUBI and MUBI GO – are written in Java and Kotlin, so we are looking for someone with experience in both languages.
  • Design and build native Android applications
  • Collaborate with backend-, iOS developers and design
  • Continuously discover, evaluate and implement latest technologies
  • Be self motivated and take responsibility for your work
  • Provide input of what’s possible on Android and be generally the driver for all things MUBI on the Android platform
  • Manage releases on the Play Store
  • Unit test code for robustness and reliability
  • Maintain and improve application performance
  • Proven strong native Android development experience
  • Java and Kotlin experience
  • Experience with Dagger 2 and Retrofit
  • Familiarity with git, continuous integration and delivery
  • Experience and knowledge with current and modern Android development practices (ArchComps and Jetpack)
  • Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON
  • Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
  • Experience with subscription handling and video streaming technologies is a bonus
  • Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
