ABOUT THIS LIST
This list is of Maori cinematic works with a strong Maori theme, and inclusion of strong Maori characters. The directors and writers of the films are of both Maori and non-Maori descent. The cinematic works provide a window into the world of Maori – into Te Ao Maori.

ABOUT THE CURATOR
Kia Ora Koutou, I am Leo Koziol (Ngati Kahungunu, Ngati Rakaipaaka) and since 2005 I’ve been the festival director of the Wairoa Maori Film Festival in Aotearoa New Zealand.
