basically its about how one should embrace oneself and how life should be treated in the most erotic & arousing way. the use of blue filter in the rainy season of tokyo gives the audience an eerie yet, very seductive feeling, not only that, each frame is well composed and equally powerful. the kind of film that you want to watch when you're out of love. lol.
Beautifully erotic drama about sexual repression/expression, freedom and peversion in an anonymous city of conservatism and conformity. Loved every frame of this, definitely one of Tsukamoto's best pieces.
A sexy and erotic nightmare with positive themes on how to live life. It also analyzes that openness to the naturalistic human urge of sexuality is a necessary freedom in a society for true freedom. More stimulating than Haneke's later, quasi-akin, Hidden, as, unlike that cryptic story, Tsukamoto confronts his themes and his narrative head on. However, it's more repetitive than deep, nor is it emotionally resonant.
