BEAR'S KISS

Lola is a lonely fourteen-year-old girl who has grown up with traveling performers. She and her mother, Carmen, perform a trapeze act together. When the troupe stops at an animal fair, Lola is entranced by a bear cub alone in a cage. From then on, she concentrates all her affection on her bear cub.

A modern fairytale of sexual awakening centered on a circus-dwelling teenager and her love for a shapeshifting bear. Notably prioritizing the gaze and desires of its young female protagonist, superbly played by Rebecka Liljeberg, it makes for a hauntingly singular riff on “Beauty and the Beast.”
