Bumblebee Geregisseerd door Travis Knight
Where the Bay “Transformers” movies alternated between ecstasy and dullness, “Bumblebee” is consistently middling. It’s a superhero tale of an unadorned and style-free Sundance-y earnestness, in which the cautionary and didactic hand of adults shapes and narrows the range of experiences, delivering life lessons with a spoonful of corn syrup.

At times very funny, Bumblebee is still at heart a big ol’ B-movie, but less bumbling and bombastic than its post-dated predecessors.

Michael Bay’s Transformers movies are edited so furiously that one can disregard the plots and appreciate them on the level of abstract formalism; by contrast, this prequel to the series (directed by Travis Knight) employs longer takes and more traditional montage, which allows you to really bask in how stupid the story is.

  • Palmat's rating of the film Bumblebee

A fine action movie that steals heavily from E.T. and mines the 80's nostalgia with abandon. Steinfeld is excellent in what could have been a cheesy role. Cena is sadly not the right actor for Burns and the love story with Memo never takes off. What I liked most about this is that the movie has got a heart and never trades it for spectacle. Marianelli's score is boring but hearing The Smiths sure made me smile!

  • HKFanatic's rating of the film Bumblebee

A kinder and gentler "Transformers." While it's not nearly as technically astounding as the Bay films, this is the kind of tonal reboot that the raunch of Bay's entries likely necessitated, and the opening ten minutes on Cybertron are as good as this series has ever been. The rest is a wall-to-wall pop soundtrack and Eighties nostalgia, letting you know the producers saw "Stranger Things" and took notes.

  • Filipe F. Coutinho's rating of the film Bumblebee

Any movie whose protagonist wakes up to Bigmouth Strikes Again is alright with me. Bumblebee is a product of its time, but with foundations of yesteryear. Perhaps because of that, it works. It doesn’t reinvent the genre or the franchise (the first is still the best), but the plot moves at a breezy and pleasant pace. And in case people hadn’t noticed before, Steinfed is a star.

  • Andhika Eka Buana's rating of the film Bumblebee

Good God the reviews are true. BUMBLEBEE is indeed the best Transformers movie to date (and if, for some of you this still seems like a backhanded compliment, well, it is also one of most entertaining blockbuster of the year). More an E.T remake than a Transformers spin-off/prequel. Less explosion, more hearts. Also they say you can't satisfy everyone, but this film satisfy BOTH The Smiths fans and The Smiths haters

  • lazycalm's rating of the film Bumblebee

Surprisingly sweet. Communicating via songs, (finally) a sympathetic military agent, an E.T. Bumblebee, etc.

  • Mahda Purmahdi's rating of the film Bumblebee

0.5 stars: I would like to quote from Ben Sachs' review on Chicago Reader: "Michael Bay’s Transformers movies are edited so furiously that one can disregard the plots and appreciate them on the level of abstract formalism; by contrast, this prequel to the series (directed by Travis Knight) employs longer takes and more traditional montage, which allows you to really bask in how stupid the story is."

  • Rocketeam's rating of the film Bumblebee

I wanna personally thank Travis Knight for cleaning the shitshow Michael Bay did of something that was so important in my childhood. This film could be an Iron Gigant for a new generation.

  • Mr.Rager's rating of the film Bumblebee

In my own stupidity if i have to choose between new Transformers movies, i think i will go with another M.Bay blockbuster. A sequel to this one doesn't sound that great for me,not after what i saw here. The story was very childish with limit imagination. All the characters are very dumb or silly, none of them had a chance to gain some respect or something from me. The visual level was kinda poor for this times. 5/10
