The venue is such a glorious architectural sight that much of the duration was spent transfixed by the space, the geometry of it, the grandeur & the sense of history. Combined with amazing lighting transitions it became as much a selling point as the routine itself. The set isn't hugely cohesive here, but there are moments of keenly-observed brilliance. Personally I thought the horse in the hospital bit was inspired.
Mulaney might just be the best, sharpest comedian out there. His work is economical, beautifully structured and intellectually witty without ever being alienating. Kid Gorgeous might also be his most accomplished work yet!
