D'Apolito's film makes sense on paper (Gilda telling her own story while we watch clips, home movies, and some contemporary talking heads) but while the narration is very interesting, I felt it was not used to the film's better advantage, and the same could be said about the interviewees. I guess this was meant to be a personal story but it felt detached in a weird way. But still, Gilda rocks any way you look at it.
CNN produced documentary is pretty lightweight but does offer a treasure chest of home movies and archival footage and mostly relies on Gilda 'in her own words'. Less successful is the group of contemporary comics who offer very little.
