NINE LIVES

The lives of nine women overlap as they deal with unfaithfulness, loss, romance, and parenthood. Cancer patient Camille has a difficult time facing her life-threatening disease, prisoner Sandra desperately looks forward to seeing her child, and Sonia realizes her boyfriend is seeing another woman.

Echoing Iñárritu’s early cinema for its episodic structure, this drama from director Rodrigo García offers a poignant glimpse at the entwined yet disconnected nature of everyday life. With an ensemble cast including Dakota Fanning and Glenn Close, Nine Lives uses the long take to gripping effect.
