Ronnie runs a Disco walking tour with his son, Brayden. When a sexy woman takes the tour, it begins a competition between father and son for her love. It also signals the arrival of an oily strangler who stalks the streets at night.

"Hottie Tootie Disco Cutie"! This was one of the best and weirdest cinematic experiences I've ever had. It seems easy to describe it (Tim & Eric + John Waters + Jared Hess + Daniel Clowes + The Creature From the Black Lagoon, maybe?) but you have to watch it to understand how fucked up and uncomfortable it is. It is so fucking gross. Especially the amazing Michael St. Michaels.
As an oddball John Waters-esque comedy film with B-movie horror elements, this is a cult oddity with plenty of strange humor and awkward laughs. The simple story lacks much depth and in its character arc, and even the act structure feels more like a series of skits than organic. However, it's gleefully humorously-offensive and offbeat, and despite its problems, Hosking has the makings of a huge cult film director.
A fun and inexplicable story well suited for a short movie but now drawn out into feature length running time. The comedy is gross and crude and sometimes fun but mostly tiring. The movie as such works for about 45 min and after that it becomes very repetetive. Destined for cult status for sure but nothing to get excited about.
J. Hosking is trying really hard to be the new John Waters but it's not getting there in any way or form.
I was falling asleep after 15 minutes despite all the film's desperate attempts to entertain us with filthy grotesquery...It's not fun-funny-stupid, it's just plain stupid.
During watching this, I think that a sound deviant is in a sound body. Refined cinematography with vivid color & sophisticated darkness, editing that has uniquely offbeat rhythm, exquisitely crappy pop music, simple but powerful father/son relationship plot. Based on these solid basics, Hosking flies to the utmost ends of the deviant. Pleasantly awful, vomittingly gross-out debut feature I GREASILY LOVED.
One usually expects w/ this kind of thing that it will be idiotic but fun. The Greasy Strangler, however, is brilliant but pretty exhausting to sit through. Actually a huge number of brilliant ideas, many executed w/ panache, but the thing is oddly inert, there is no forward momentum, and the viewer is forced to come face to face w/ a puzzling existential vacuity. Everything on earth is utterly empty. Huzzah!
