Count Davide (Alain Cuny) and his wife Gilda (Juliette Mayniel) run an escort service for rich men with extravagant sexual fantasies. Through their being “prosseneti” [panderers, pimps], they acquire an immense wealth and political influence. There is indeed something rotten in the State of Italy.
