Terrific. A Kafkaesque nightmare about one of the most terrifying scams ever devised by American capitalists: the timeshare holiday. Once you enter, you can never leave. It reminded me of Jordan Peele's Get Out, which, in turn, is a re-working of the timeless The Stepford Wives: they all share the same level of paranoia, conspiracy, and real life horror. RJ Mitte is perfect in the role of the Paterfamilias.
TIME SHARE offers a lot for the eye and a whole lot of too-easy shit for those needing more. Obviously the original Big Con was selling the rubes on pie in the sky when they die. Well, our sputtering civilization has subsequently found better and braver ways to filch us. The stuff of odious time share dreams. Didn't help that I involuntarily imagined an alternative TIME SHARE starring Ben Stiller and John C. Reilly.
Beautifully shot and production designed slice of satire and black humour set within the well-heeled Mexican time-share community and the invisible workers propping up the industry on minimal a wage. Hofmann teases with a Lanthimos poker that's more accessible, less deadpan yet vibrant and bold as all hell. Top makes for the skewy theme track! 3.5 stars
An interesting critique of consumerist and corporate environment. That the employees and guests blend together in a big happy family is a gem of an idea. The appealing ending however fails itself to the consumerism("consumers like happy ends") as those treated unfair can speak their mind.In reality, he wouldn't have been able to address people at meeting, by being ushered out by guards.
