i know, this list could be better. i’ve only seen some of these like once, some a few years ago or more, and i may see them again and decide they don’t belong here. some will always be listed and some may only be briefly. some of them aren’t movies. a lot of them are childhood favorites or just have sentimental value to me and i know they aren’t very good as most things go, but what can i say. i make no apologies.
i’ve seen many many movies and things beyond what’s listed here. but these, for various reasons, speak to me in particularly deep, profound ways. some of them don’t offer much spiritual or emotional nourishment (to me, anyhow) but are just hellaciously funny and/or entertaining, which is a different but equally valid and important sort of fulfillment.
i find these works by turns amusing, hilarious, disgusting, exciting, appalling, depressing, stimulating, upsetting, thought-provoking, despair-inducing, resonant, prescient, inspiring, boring (which is not a bad thing), life-affirming, timely, dated, honest, dreamlike, uneven, beautiful, flawed, important, ragged, silly, grotesque, meaningful, corny (also not a bad thing), intelligent, ridiculous, nightmarish, absurd, nostalgic, completely unnecessary and every and any other emotion or state of mind you can think of.Lees minder
