Cannes à la Flip

MUBI and Cisco, maker of the Flip Video Camcorder, have teamed up to encourage Short Film Corner directors who've come to Cannes not only to watch films but also to make films with the Cannes à la Flip contest. Having fanned out into the real world, over 300 competitors returned with submissions and yesterday MUBI CEO Efe Cakarel and the jury — Hengameh Panahi, President of Celluloid Dreams; the two directors of the São Paolo International Film Festival, Renata de Almeida and Leon Cakoff; four filmmakers who've most recently contributed to the omnibus film Revolución, Patricia Riggen, Mariana Chenillo, Amat Escalante and Gerardo Naranjo; and MUBI Editor-in-Chief Daniel Kasman — announced the winners.

First Place: Kiteling by Eva Pervolovici, who receives €3,000 and a meeting with Hengameh Panahi. Second Place: One Night Avec La Mer by Colin L. Racicot (€1,000) and Third Place: Youth by Ayse Altinok (€500). Watch these budding talents and many more right here.
