Video of the day. Trailer for "Cinéma de notre temps: James Benning and Richard Linklater"

It's hard not to be excited for this if you're a cinephile: Gabe Klinger has directed a documentary about the unlikely friendship between American filmmakers James Benning and Richard Linklater:

"In 1985, former oil rig worker Richard Linklater began a film screening society in Austin, Texas, that aimed to show classic art-house and experimental films to a budding community of cinephiles and filmmakers. Eventually incorporating as a nonprofit, the newly branded Austin Film Society raised enough money to fly in their first out-of-town invitee: Milwaukee native James Benning, visionary filmmaker, who was then based in New York. Accepting the invitation, Benning met Linklater and immediately the two began to develop a personal and intellectual bond, leading to future screenings and encounters."

Klinger has launched a Kickstarter campaign in order to bring this project to completion and could use your support and attention. Needless to say, we're hungry for more footage of Benning and Linklater playing ball.

Tickets for you and a friend to attend the WORLD PREMIERE screening of the film and an invitation to have a private dinner with director Gabe and his team after. (travel to screening and lodgings not included.) Also: digital downloads + your name in a special “thank you” section in the final credits scroll.
