Terribly weak film, especially coming after the seriously funny "A Madea Christmas." Has all the hallmarks of the earlier Madea films in that they were cluttered with comedy, drama, and petty morals that didn't mesh with the slapstick tone of the entire picture. Also, the reliance on these lengthy scenes composed of nothing more than tired one-liners hints that Tyler Perry is running out of serviceable ideas.
"Sometimes getting saved is like a bad perm - it just don't take." Leave it to writer/creator Tyler Perry to utilize Halloween, that most free-wheeling and anarchic of holidays, as a vehicle to express his strict disciplinary rules on raising children. As a comedy, "Boo!" is as discursive a film as I've come to expect from Perry, and once again Cassi Davis steals the show as the spirited, pot-smoking Aunt Bam.
Though it's patently (and painfully) obvious that the entire film was shot in only six days, this is undeniably the funniest 'Madea' film ever made. 'Boo! A Madea Halloween' is sure to delight any and all fans of Tyler Perry's finest, and most hilarious, creation.
To say the least, Perry's Halloween adventure with Madea was not exactly the most scary or even that great as a Madea film. With other iterations of this character containing much stronger one-liners and hilarity, this one just fell flat. Yes, there were a few moments that got a laugh to emit from me, but only because of the sheer silliness of some of the scenarios. This film only scraped the surface for me.
