Recenzje krytyków

A film this crowded has to have some pleasures, but they mostly come in incidental details of art direction, mythological footnote or British character acting.

Marshall, a world away from the dank dread and crawling terror of his 2006 spelunking stunner, “The Descent,” directs like a dog at a squirrel convention, charging gleefully from one witlessly violent encounter to the next. Ian McShane, as Hellboy’s adoptive father, does what he can to calm the chaos, but the movie left me alternately baffled and battered.

So, Hellboy’s a mess. That’s not to say that it’s complicated, or unclear, exactly; no story filled with this many clichés can really be too confusing. But the latest adaptation of Mike Mignola’s cult comics — an attempt to reboot the successful, if short-lived, film franchise Guillermo del Toro started back in 2004 — throws so many tired plot points and revelations at us that it all feels like an exhausting blur.

Co mówią ludzie?

  • HKFanatic's rating of the film Hellboy

I wouldn't say I'm particularly attached to Guillermo Del Toro's films—I remember enjoying them in the theaters, but haven't revisited them since—but I imagine 2019's "Hellboy" would bring shame to any long-running comic book franchise. Ugly and overly long, the film's only 'redeeming quality,' if you could call it that, is the gleefully sophomoric way it rubs its "R" rating in the viewer's face at every turn.

  • Ghostman's rating of the film Hellboy

Nobody was ever going to like this one because GDT's fans, R rating, & the BTS woes, but I have to say I liked it. A grungy, goofy horror take on the comic, Neil Marshall does a solid job in spite of his constraints (he clearly had no final cut, everything is a clip too fast, some awkward casting in supporting roles). In a way, its what I wanted out of the Deadpool movies. I rank it 2nd of the three Hellboy movies.

  • Steve Pulaski's rating of the film Hellboy

Obnoxiously loud with an incoherent narrative that takes a far different direction than both the previous film series and the source material, Neil Marshall's "Hellboy" was destined to be the red-bodied demon-child of the multiplex. But there is something here. At times, I was elated by the film's emphasis on horror and grotesque characters as opposed to perfunctory origins story cues. What cult classics are made of.

  • msmichel's rating of the film Hellboy

Just terrible. The inconsistent tone paired with a story that lacks from sense of urgency lead to this reboot's failure. Outside Harbour's take on the title character (we miss you Ron) the rest of the performances falter and fail. This remodel certainly pales in comparison to Del Toro's two earlier films.

  • VENIMOS LOS JODIMOS Y NOS FUIMOS's rating of the film Hellboy

  • traag-1's rating of the film Hellboy

Neil Marshall is a capable director with the material but it was just an unneeded rehash of the character and his world. I only give this a 2 because of that field giant fight.

  • Joseph Sylvers's rating of the film Hellboy

A pulpy weird fiction splatterfest, full of the franchise's signature unique monsters, occult lore, and fast paced action. Pearlmen's portrayal remains the gold standard, but Harbor moves into the role by the end. Marshall has the series broach genuine horror at moments, but most is generic super-hero fare. Enjoyable in a post-Deadpool way, but not enough of the handcrafted love Del Toro invested.

  • NikoDiGi's rating of the film Hellboy

Two hours of entertaining action filled with ‘horror’, grotesque creatures and (lame) jokes. There’s no doubt: Guillermo Del Toro is unattainable, as well as iconic Ron Perlman’s Hellboy.
