Doesn't entirely know whether it wants to be sentimental, funny, or depressing, but it's not bad. It's just alright. It's certainly a "feel-good" bit that audiences have and will continue eating up, but I can't say it was anything impressive or all that touching,
A wealthy paraplegic hires a charismatic Senegalese immigrant off the street to be his caretaker, and is given a new lease on life through his unique and spirited outlook. Utterly beguiling without being schmaltzy, THE INTOUCHABLES is a compelling look at an unusual friendship that is both funny and touching. Never takes itself too seriously, and emerges a triumphant work.
Uplifting, charming film marvelously captured through excellent cinematography grasping the essence of the French cityscape... all accentuated by a beautifully memorable original soundtrack... Cluzet and Sy really hit out of the park... awe-inspiring and heartbreaking all at the same time... It isn't often I walk out the cinema feeling invigorated with a sort of new found passion for life. This film did that for me.
An outstanding and unpretentious movie about the way friendship can be found anywhere at anytime.
The Intouchables' comedy is a great example how things can be made without forcing anything on it - it seems genuine, honest, true. The story is not the most original of all time but does not make it less inventive, on the contrary.
Omar Sy character is simply superb.
A very strong 4.
Divided by a window, two staggeringly different men smile to each other, conveying at once the overwhelming joy of a genuine human connection. Review: http://aestheticsofthemind.wordpress.com/2014/05/07/intouchables-toledano-nakache-2011/
