Ward is so focused on creating incredible imagery that he loses sight of continuity. His individual shots are astonishing, but they don't cut together well within sequence. The editing throughout is clumsy, jarring & spatially disorienting. While the film is well acted & affecting, it might have benefited from a more ambiguous or even elliptical structure; creating a balance between the spiritual & the psychological.
I can see that the creators explore possibilities of the spiritual life, and in doing so, have created some visually beautiful scenes that seems to be the highlight of the movie. However, the whole plot seems to be confusing, convoluted, and pointless. Much of the dialogue seems redundant and is delivered in an unconvincing manner. And the story just didn't hold together very well.
A preachy religious unoriginal take on what awaits us in the afterlife. I wanted to like it mainly because Robin Williams is in it and the subject is pretty close to home (considering recent events). Unfortunately the whole movie is so morose and it just plonks along at a painful and uneven pace. I get the feeling Ward wants it to be an uplifting family movie but it just isn't. Macabre, bleak and poorly orchestrated
So much love and can u believe that love make you wanna tried every single things to found ur lover? that kind life, full fill of love until everything doesn't make sense anymore, but u still believe. Sometimes when you lose, you win.
If you prepare yourself for Hollywood mediocrity this is an enjoyable film. It has lots and lots of sentimental cliches and problems of other sorts, but it does have some quality to it. Especially the heavens and hells are pretty interesting, the visuals in particular.
'Where's God in all this?' 'Up there. Shouting He loves us very much.' premisnya menarik (sy suka tema beginian sih) dan visualnya cantik, tapi penyampaiannya sedikit membosankan. sy selalu mempertanyakan ini, di akhirat nanti, kita masih punya emosi ga sih? selain bahagia dan sesal, tentu saja. seberapa lamakah 'selamanya'?
A little melodramatic certainly, but the visual effects are so incredible that i'm able to overlook some minor faults. Besides the idea of retrieving a loved one from hell was intriguing and in my opinion well executed. Underrated film.
kadının dünyada yaşarken yaptığı tabloların kocası tarafından aynı anda astralde canlandırılması, sanatın yeryüzünü aştığını falan düşündürttü bana. cennet tasvirindeki renkler boyalar, uçan kuş falan da çok güzeldi. cehennem sahneleri de aynı zamanda hieronymus bosch tablosundan fırlama gibiydi, tatlış.
