Data Scientist
Full-time, London
MUBI is hiring a highly motivated Data Scientist to assemble and assess data sets to improve MUBI services globally.

As a Data Scientist in the product development team you will use techniques such as machine learning and natural language processing to realise authentic, data-driven change. You will report to Federico Keen and work closely with the different team units within MUBI, giving you the chance to enhance performance and have impact across the organization. Data requests will be aimed towards increasing awareness of the MUBI brand and growing our subscriber base.
Our ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who has experience in handling diverse data-informed requests, and can deliver and communicate results clearly within the organization. The person we are looking for has a high level of independency and is resourceful. You analyze complex, dimensional data sets from different sources. And you develop tools and software that we use to collect better data every day.
Main Responsibilities
  • Designing, developing and managing data science projects within the company;
  • Contributing effective, useful code to our Data Science codebase;
  • Identifying opportunities to transform our business by using advanced analytical techniques;
  • Presenting findings and outputs to senior stakeholders in written reports;
Essential Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in data science projects, preferably where solving a business problem (academic, professional, or personal experience);
  • Programming experience in SQL and either Python or R;
  • Strong understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms;
  • Strong understanding of applied statistics, such as distributions, regression modelling and statistical testing;
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written). We look for people who can convey their work appropriately to technical and non-technical members of the organization.

  • Ability to work independently with deadlines, reporting results on a regular basis
Desirable Skills
  • Data visualisation experience in tools such as Metabase, Jupyter or Amplitude;
  • Experience working with Git and Agile development methods;
