The land subsidence caused by a mining operation extracting rock salt has resulted in sinkholes and cracks appearing in the homes of residents in the Bebedouro neighborhood of Maceió. With the imminent risk of collapse, the neighborhood is evacuated, leaving the land open to exploitation.
