“['Espelho d’água'] stirs up the popular imagination and also addresses the denunciations of the current situation of the São Francisco River. I looked for a photograph that encompassed these two aspects: a magical, playful, fable-like tone of the stories told, including by a talking canoe, and the cruelty of the transformations that the river has been undergoing.”
