Along the Atlantic coast, Ada is in love with Souleiman. But she has been promised to another man. One night, Souleiman and his co-workers leave the country by sea, in hope of a better future. Several days later, a fire ruins Ada’s wedding and a mysterious fever starts to spread.

The French-Senegalese actor and filmmaker Matt Diop became the first Black female director to premiere in the Cannes competition with this shimmering feature debut. Winning the Grand Jury Prize, Atlantics is at once a stunningly immersive spectral love story and a piercing work of spiritual realism.
