Low budget 80s horror fare is nothing special in the story department, but does manage to set itself apart with a strange atmosphere of almost bargain basement Lynchian surrealism and bizarre humor. Not all that memorable, but modestly entertaining for cult movie fans.
Strange 'Ozploitation' film from director Laughlin that just doesn't seem to be able to pick a genre and stick with it. A mix of slasher film, mad scientist, and even black comedy with a miscast Murphy and Louise 'why in the world am I in this film when I just won an Oscar 6 years ago' Fletcher.
Wow...wonderfully unusual, unique, nearly indescribable film. Shot w/ a preference for long master takes, it begins w/ a slasher film vibe but makes exhilarating side trips into oddball humor & surreal mad scientist/mystery. The justly-celebrated party sequence is great but it's only the beginning...wait until you see Michael Murphy cracking open crypts at midnight with a crowbar. Magnificent cast!
