American filmmaker Abel Ferrara’s first intentional comedy is a lovely, funny, and lilting tribute to New York City. Loosely based on Cassavetes’s neo-noir The Killing of a Chinese Bookie, it evokes the tawdry glamour of the city strip club, and stars Willem Dafoe, Bob Hoskins and Asia Argento.
