A candy-hued 90s teen film grown up, with old gender norms subverted. Adorable in the least offensive way, and maybe almost a reclaiming of the rom-com? Great stoner comedy type situations, and moments of tenderness. This isn't my favourite film with her in it, but the recurring Didda Jónsdóttir character is sort of a personal hero. I think of Sólveig Anspach now whenever I see cranes. 3.5
Nothing really that we haven't seen (a thousand times) before, especially in the second part. And this does not mean that it is a bad film but this "Amelie in Iceland", with supposedly funny dialogues and few ideas on how to stage them, offers too little to care about. Even the script that won him the César looks pretty weak. Boy meets girl, fine, but where is the added value here ? Film tourism.
CANNES 2016 Quinzaine des Réalisateurs : 15th film viewed. Comédie romantique très réussie, avec pour la 1re fois en vedette Samir QUESMI, d'habitude excellent second rôle. ==== Very successful romantic comedy. Starring for the 1st time Samir QUESMI, usually excellent supporting cast. === TRIBUTE TO Suzan ANSPACH (dissappeared in 2015).
A wonderful, graceful and witty film set in France and Iceland. The simple story of a man who 'madly' falls in love with a woman and follows her to unknown land. The two lead are perfect, as are all the supporting actors. With this perfect dose of magic to enchant the audience (and the superb Iceland landscape)
How could she go from making such a great movie with that cast to making rubbish like that ? She destroyed all those wonderful characters ? Took them from 3D to 2D :-) It seems you can't give no stars but it sure deserved it :-)
Romance pataude et sans subtilité, de personnages qui se veulent décalés, mais qui sont justes mal-foutus, esquissés, plats et sans saveurs. Aquatique ou pas, ce qui est sûr c'est qu'il n'y a pas d'effet.
