This film should suit the many fans of Hedy Lamarr, where she plays this vile selfish creature as well as even Bette Davis could have.

The Strange Woman Dirigido por Edgar G. Ulmer

Opiniões dos críticos

Ulmer’s unparalleled modulation of darkness and light casts Jenny in surprisingly complex moral shades, but it’s Lamarr who deserves the credit for fashioning such a beguiling character. Her performance is a model of deceptive legibility.

Most of Ulmer’s effort seems to have gone into Lamarr’s performance, as the rest of the film is an effective but indistinguishable bit of invisible Hollywood craftsmanship. There is a concerted effort to identify Jenny with nature… These are thoughtfully laid out metaphors of her inhumanity, but they fail to convey the mad energy of her character. Instead they are distanced and coolly objective, a nature doc of a sociopath in the wild.
