Nogueira is a 17-year-old who travels to Rio de Janeiro to study. Lodged at Meneses’, widower of his cousin, now married to Conceição, the young man hopes to go to the theatre with Meneses on Christmas Eve. But things don’t go as planned, and he stays at home with Conceição.
