“We've all made fools of ourselves at some point, well, anyone who drinks and I don't mean excessively. But we've all had moments of 'Oh my God, what happened last night? What did I do?' But I had to stop when I realised it was interfering with everything. I had a very dark life. I didn't find enjoyment in many things. So that's when I stopped and started writing instead. If I hadn't have stopped drinking, I wouldn't have written my novels.”
