Considering how much "Black Mirror's" reputation has traded on deep cynicism and nihilistic punchline endings, it's been something of a surprise to discover over the course of the last two Netflix seasons that the show also excels at melancholy romanticism. "Hang the DJ" is Match.com filtered through "The Prisoner," a clever exploration of internet dating culture that owes a great debt to its leads' chemistry.
It takes a sci-fi thriller tv series to makes me believe in love again. I always wanted to have a certainty in terms of my romantic relationship but after watching this episode, it makes me see the bright and fun side of the uncertainty that love can bring. Definitely my favorite from the 4th season.
4.5. The first truly thought-provoking episode of the fourth season, one in which I actually felt enveloped in a completely different world. Adorable, but capable of being devastating, it always feels like it's going somewhere, right until the mindblowing ending. This is why I watch this show.
Finally, I found another favorite episode from BLACK MIRROR. It's called HANG THE DJ. I don't know why, but I felt this episode kinda reminds me a bit to SAN JUNIPERO from the previous season. Maybe because both episodes almost have a similar theme: About finding a true love. Also, both episodes have a happy ending. I loved HANG THE DJ because I liked how Charlie Brooker makes us care to its main characters. AMAZING!
