Recenzii ale criticilor

Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s breakthrough, Cure (1997), established its director as the most original horror stylist since John Carpenter… Style-wise, Kurosawa ditches familiar horror-movie tropes—shock cuts, crescendoing music—in favor of elliptic editing, ambiguous action, and long, widely framed takes.

Ce spun cinefilii?

  • Bilouaustria's rating of the film Cure

This disturbing thriller has one of the best killers ever, a very calm student that is the closest thing you’ll see from the devil. Kurosawa is not much into close ups and spectacular music. There is a simple flow in CURE where the horror is ordinary and somehow even more shocking and abrupt. This cloud of violence hanging in the air reminded me of Carpenters major piece THE THING. I got really nervous watching it.

  • Jason's rating of the film Cure

CURE is an outright masterpiece, Kiyoshi's first, and many of us were immediately aware of the fact. It is both harrowing and uncommonly scrupulous, a methodical derangement of the senses from a director who would continue to illustrate over the next twenty years and change that he is at his best the most discreetly upsetting artist we have ever had on the subject of human somnambulism, the secret motor of History.

  • Henri de Corinth's rating of the film Cure

Rewatched on a whim. Still KK's best, I think. A murder mystery that questions the ideas of motive, ethics, identity, even consciousness (and by extension, reality) itself. Once those are gone, we're gone.

  • HenriqueA's rating of the film Cure

As far as serial killers stories go, "Cure" has a good, if not an entirely memorable premise. What makes it rise above as a(nother Kurosawa) masterpiece is how the director unnervingly sets his camera and actors. Kôji Yakusho and Masato Hagiwara are mesmerising. I instantly and instinctively replayed most of the long takes in confusion and awe.

  • HKFanatic's rating of the film Cure

Kiyoshi Kurosawa announced himself as a major voice in cinema with this unsettling psychological horror film that turns the serial killer genre on its head. "Cure" totally works as a thriller, but is more interesting in how Kurosawa uses this framework to reveal that society's carefully maintained sense of identity is not as secure as we like to think. This is a film terrifying in its existential implications.

  • Palmat's rating of the film Cure

The best K. Kurosawa movie by far. Some may champion Kairo, which also is stellar, but this mesmerizing and puzzling serial killer mystery really gets everything right. The casting, sound design, score, editing and directing makes this an unforgettable experience. What I really like about this is how the movie wanders between horror surrealism and ordinary drama without breaking a sweat. Essential viewing!!!

  • Mugino's rating of the film Cure

Although K.Kurosawa's other J-horror flicks are somewhat laughable, I have long asserted that this is hands down (IMO) the scariest, creepiest movie that I have ever seen. It gets under my skin unlike any other horror film with its cool, quiet detachment and conscious decision to under-dramatize the violence. He and Yakusho have a knack for tapping the hidden, deep-seated resentments that drive people. SCARY.

  • yuriwalker's rating of the film Cure

Definitely one of the most terrifying film that I've ever seen. The mood and the atmosphere, oh man, I can talk about it for the rest of my life.
