Ascenseur pour l'échafaud

Louis Malle Franța, 1958

Shelley's rating of the film Elevator to the Gallows

Malle's debut film is a masterpiece. He instantly hooks you in and leaves you on the edge of your seat for the entirety of the film. The Miles Davis' score compliments the film perfectly too. Moreau and Ronet are also fantastic actors here. I am really blown away by how perfect his first film is. The way this film is shot, how it looks, and sounds reminds me a lot of Cassavetes' "Shadows" two years later.
