Fatima is a dramatic and warm hearted story about an immagrant mother and her two teen daughters in Lyon living there and showing their everday stuggles. Till Fatima falls down the stairs at wrok and takes a payed vacation time off and can no longer work the same after becasuse she feels pain although shes all healed up. At this point in she gets to express how she feels about her daughters in a letter.
Greatly appreciated the economy of dialogue and excellent pacing to show us these three characters. Loved the mother's poem about the "Fatimas" of the country. Sadly beautiful to watch her diligently learn more French, despite being rebuffed by actual French people. Her efforts echo the daughter's diligent efforts to succeed in medical school, and the younger daughter's efforts to distance herself from her mother.
