The incredible and brutal true story of France’s most wanted man, Jacques Mesrine. Arch-fiend to some and folk hero to others, his criminal career spanned nearly two decades of brazen bank robberies, breathtaking prison breaks, and ingenious identity changes across Europe and North America.

It's far too long to depict the last years of Mesrine's life, when he was less active and more under the radar. Could've easily been cut significantly and been added to the first part. Separating it in two parts made the second lose steam.
As bold, unflinching, and perhaps even more complex than the first installment of Jacques Mesrine's story. This half follows the later years of Mesrine's escapist life, and deals with much less globetrotting and action in favor of emotional depth, politics, and corruption (of both gangsters and the police). An absolutely fascinating conclusion, no matter how many times I see it.
The first chunk is probably the closest we're going to get to a great live action Lupin III adaptation. And the rest was pretty good too! It's astonishing how much better than Killer Instinct Public Enemy #1 is.
Absolutely awesome performance by Vincent Cassel. His devotion to character and making it look easy is why I really like his acting. The second part is not as good as the first, and in fact cramming 15 minutes of this movie as a bookend to the first would have completed the story, it lost the momentum. It is a good film and highly entertaining.
A bit stronger than the first part, as it has a more pronounced rhythm leading towards a culmination. Cassel still is the highlight of the whole thing - the man truly can portray an evil scumbag. Attempts to give a reasonable motive to Mesrine in the movie seem a bit out of place though.
Even more scatter-brained and utilitarian than the first part. Also, more frustrating. There are so many rich thematic fields (Mesrine's daughter, Mesrine's flirtations with radical left resistance, etc) that are just being glossed over but that would warrant a film to their own... it's a shame that the biopic has been reduced to a banal chronological declamation of events. Mesrine's character is a cipher here...
A really great gangster film. Part one was all right, but part deux is much more suspenseful and action packed. Some parts are a bit unbelievable, but the film is based on true events and Cassel really portrays a reckless egotistic Mesrine like no other performance I've seen from him. A great film that you must see if you like action/crime films.
