Nice earnest and deadpan performance from Rudd. For example my favorite bit of dialogue is when Billy says "I love it - just a couple of guys and a dog making candles." Agreeing, Ned's response is "What a cliche.".I also loved the scene with the self-help cult, and it's fun to see Rashida Jones as a lesbian. This low key comedy doesn't offer any guffaws, but is likeable nonetheless. 3.5 stars
Paul Rudd as a typically lovable (yet dim-witted) character ruining each of his three sisters lives. But is it ruination, or is it simply showing them how embittered and selfish they've become? Ultimately a pretty cute movie, but it had some severe lag time. Honestly, it is exactly what you would expect from the premise and the cast.
A perpetual screw-up gets out of jail and goes to live with his family, who are all so dysfunctional that he turns out to be the only sane one in this bunch. A surprisingly heartwarming dramedy that may seem a bit obvious at first, but the cast really sells this film, bringing it to a higher level than most comedies of its type.
A light and easy viewing with some good funny moments throughout and a lot of warm feelings, most of them coming from Paul Rudd who makes his character so likable. Great casts, overall never really bores or loses it's pace. This film has a couple of weak spots, one of them being the lacks of depths and substance but certainly forgivable because I was entertained and lightly touched nevertheless.
Whomever did the PR on this movie sucks. They sold it as 'dumb' comedy. when really it's quite an intelligent comedy. I think this caused this movie to fail. People went to see this movie to zone out with some laughs. When it made you think about Honesty and Unconditional love. Paul Rudd was amazing.
