Reminded me of my high school and the friendship with the 2 boys I had, Unfortunately I didn't get to leap through time. These kinda film, is inspiring. A very close one to my heart this film. Can anyone recommend films with the same theme&tone as this?
7 - Decided to revisit this favourite from my teenage years, since it was one of the very few anime experiences I've ever had that left me with pleasant memories. It's incredibly wholesome and charming, if a bit too obvious here and there, and it holds up very well.
I'd heard good things about this and had been saving it. I wish I hadn't. Yes the animation is lovely, the images are beautiful, but I feel they deserve a better script than this! It's just a teenage romance story, which is fine, but I guess from all the reviews . . . I was expecting more. Much more. She can travel through time, and she doesn't really DO anything. I didn't like any of the characters either. Shame.
This anime's animation is not as spellblinding and detailed as Wolf Children, but it was accurate enough to make the anime run smoothly. This film is carried by its superb screenplay. The way the script is structured and the way it evolves is outstandingly marvelous. The animation present on Mamuro Hosoda's flicks is superb, but what impresses me the most on his animes are the the stories he presents us.
first time i heard about this film i thought it was a cheap girly film after months of hearing good reviews i finally saw it.
now its easily one of my favorite anime flicks, high up there with spirited away/ akira/ ghost in the shell
[3.5] Such a beautiful story! A sweet and unpretentious, yet sometimes stunning artwork sets the naive tone on humans impetus to control time. Just let it unfolds as it should be. And yet that’s a very hard thing to learn.
Stop and rewind and change a small minor thing in your life. It really is the little things like karaoke and pudding instead of wanting to change the world. A simple slice of life teenage romance but with a time travelling twist and it doesn't try to go above that or complicate things. Hosoda already has his style figured out and future projects show that but for a first time stand alone it's a perfect time leap.
The main character in this is so lovable, and the animation is gorgeous. It keeps Shojo/Young Adult plot beats exciting with its humour and suspense. Some parts of this are really heartbreaking, too. I really like a lot of this film, but there are some major plot inconsistencies mainly re: the logic of Chiaki. I think this might be a perfect film if not for the last three minutes which are kinda eyebrow raising.
