A surprisingly good 'pulp noir' film: well acted with convincing performances, good cinematography, script, editing and incidentals. The 'cautionary tale' ending does not do justice to all that has preceded. The first song is a stand-out performance and directorial decisions around character responses are indicative of the film's strength. Many films boast forgotten gem status but this one surely deserves it.

This movie is an interesting experience. That's the only way to describe it. Honestly, you will feel differently about this movie based on the person that you are. The script is very telling about the era, being made in 1962. The story embraces its cynicism, and throughout I couldn't tell who the target audience was. 3/5 would recommend to fans of cold noir and surprisingly intense films. Approach with caution.

A drama about a manipulative femme fatale with an interesting final twist. It seems not to condemn too harshly the protagonist's behaviour with a moral commentary. Instead, Intrator appears to be interested to provide a general commentary on gender relations at that time: the possessive ex-lover, the man of power, youth's idea of romantic love, women struggling in various way in a Men's Society. Check it out.

Ted Eames

An entertaining artefact for lovers of pulp fiction paperback covers. A feast of melodrama, over-acting and femdom sexual innuendo - what's not to enjoy!?

An interesting blend of proto-feminist subversion of sexist fantasies about female power, this operates in Fuller outskirts. While it deserves attention due to some very nice low angle shots, face close-ups and lyrical location shooting that purifies the desperate dominatrix from her sins, its script needed polishing and deepening also with regards to the other women that surround her. Yet, its finale compensates.
