If someone has watched this movie and didn't laugh, I think there's something wrong with that person. INCIDENT AT LOCH NESS is surprisingly funnier than I thought. IMO, watching a few movies from Werner Herzog will help a lot to understand the jokes better. INCIDENT AT LOCH NESS has one of the most "film" jokes I've ever seen. I think Werner Herzog should do comedies even more. This one is criminally underrated...
a mockumentary with not much to mock; one gets the impression Penn wished to make a layered enough film to bank success off of Herzog's mystique. i found myself endeared to Herzog, annoyed by Penn, and surprised by how pedestrian the whole affair was. there's not much like this, but you're better off watching something by the film's subject.
One of the funniest films I've ever seen. Werner Herzog pokes fun at himself and his own films frequently in this brilliant mockumentary. It is always great when a director can do self-parody instead of becoming a parody of themselves due to too much fame. Herzog has to be the humblest of filmmakers. Any fan of his should enjoy this one.
Quite silly but at the same time quite entertaining for any Herzog fans out there. You can't help but smile at the fact that Herzog totally rolls with how ridiculous his personality and mythology have really become. I'm glad he just signs up for a project like this that most other equally serious artists would simply shun out of pure pretension.
