PIERCING

A married man plans on murdering an unsuspecting call girl at a hotel to get rid of his devious impulses. However, he becomes allured by the mysterious woman who shows up. First, they relax and get in the mood, but when there’s an unexpected disruption, a dangerous game of chance and chase begins.

Adapated from the novel by Ryu Murakami—who also wrote Audition—this psychosexual thriller is laced with a tincture of dark humour. With knockout turns from Christopher Abbott and Mia Wasikowska, Piercing’s wickedly sleazy, neo-giallo vibe is ripe enough to make even Brian De Palma blush.
