"The Girl: Your imagination! You think every girl's a dope. You think a girl goes to a party and there's some guy in a fancy striped vest strutting around giving you that I'm-so-handsome-you-can't-resist-me look. From this she's supposed to fall flat on her face. Well, she doesn't fall on her face. But there's another guy in the room, over in the corner.
This is one deliriously funny comedy about infidelity. Wilder crafts his signature envelope pushing crude humor with plenty of innuendo coming from a brilliant Tom Ewell and Marilyn Monroe is an absolute delight here.
Charming sex comedy from the master of the genre. Monroe truly was a great comic actress and Tom Ewell is hilariously besotted from the moment she pops over the balcony ledge. Well worth seeing even if its just to see the iconic Monroe moment.
The stage was set for Marylin and she doesn't miss her chance to shine. However, it's Tom Ewell who really steals the show here, with his quirks and nervous tics. I do think its portrayal of women isn't exactly flattering or respectful. It is equally degrading when depicting men, doing much for gender stereotypes.Either way, there's also a timeless quality to it and I don't think I'll ever stop finding this hilarious.
This one feels like a live-action cartoon at times. Monroe is lovely, and there are some memorable moments here. All in all though, its mostly fluff, and given its Wilder, I expected better. Extra star for Monroe at her peak
