Enjoyable indie comedy with some great casting choices. The story is an old hat but director Barrymore injects a whole lot of fun into the proceedings which makes this for a fun time waster. And it's always great to see Juliette Lewis on the screen again.
Smashley Simpson, Bloody Holly, Malice in Wonderland, Rosa Sparks, Dinah Might: We're number two!! We're number two!!
Razor: You guys came in second out of two teams.
Smashley Simpson, Bloody Holly, Malice in Wonderland, Rosa Sparks, Dinah Might: Whoo!!!
A very cool movie which doesn't make all the obvious choices but still hews close enough to cliche to stay in or near most people's comfort zones. I'd expect the most common reaction to be "I liked it. It was a little odd." Drew Barrymore is most definitely a skillful director.
A shallow, superficial look at the roller derby and punk rock scenes; great, a "Mighty Ducks" for Avril Lavigne's. Ugh! It also loses points for miscasting not one, but TWO CoverGirls as rollergirls. If you need any reason to avoid this movie, let it be this eye-roll inducing quote:
"Will there be cute boys there?
We need more movies like this, starring bad ass teenage girls. Also Ellen Page and Alia Shawkat are my favorites so they add on another star by themselves. I also liked Kristen Wiig, who I don't really care for on a regular basis. This is a great directorial debut for Drew.
It s not enough for Drew Barrymore being a terible actress, and she s also a terible director. plz, dont you dare to direct stupid things like these again, coz even having Ellen Page as the main actress, this isnt worth watching.
