The Current Muzzling of Dimitris

Brentos

it seems he’s been silenced again. just curious if any mods could explain exactly why? i’ve tried pm’ing some people but havent really gotten any responses, and my internet connection is bad.

I remember him being silenced before, but this time i’m not sure exactly what prompted it. just curious as he is an avid poster on this site and one of the many users that i pay strict attention to.

Brentos, that is a can of worms you are popping open and right next to the chow mein, be careful

Brentos

true. perhaps i’d be better off leaving it alone

This is the third time and yet again it’s bullshit. There were more people at fault, but of course dim is the only person who gets it since he’s already a target. That is all I’ll say.

Pandora’s Box, surely.

Arc of the covenant.

Exactly.

i remember it happening before. i find his presence makes for lively debates and discussions on this website.

Again? And I thought the mubi team had meanwhile understood that’s not the way to handle the situation.

Jirin

Dimitris had been under control for a while, but Polaris’s game got him back to directly insulting like 2-3 people per page.

WBA

What can one do? It seems this whole (hi)story has come to a stall, a dead end.

Prewitt

How does someone get muzzled on here? Do they ban them?

apursansar

@Jirin: That’s one of the reasons I tried talking him out of posting on that thread. Even I got frustated about the nature of that game, so I stopped posting on there.

Brentos

He did call people out, but it seemed to me like more in good fun than anything else. i think he just wanted to instigate discussion and debate, albeit somewhat aggressively. and he has been quite calm for a few postings. he hasn’t gone any further than other users i’ve seen. why is he the one to talk the fall yet again?

That’s all i’m wondering…

apursansar

@Rgrimes: It means the profile still exists and one can update it, but it’s not possible to post on the forum or contact other users.

Dim said this time it’s permanent.

Prewitt

@ Apursansar:

Thanks…but that’s only a temporary thing right? Eventually, he’ll be allowed back?

CJ Roy

The problem is Dmitris is known for this behavior. I personally don’t care, but when he gets to being a bit of an aggressive asshole, whether instigated or not, he goes full out and does not know how to stop. I dig Dim when he is being respectful and pushing film and conversation.

That being said, I would rather have Dim then Santino. I still have yet to see one worthwhile or funny post from him. If you can’t succeed at being a troll, perhaps you should rethink your style.

apursansar

Usually it has been a temporary thing and it took a few weeks or months for users to be allowed back, though as Cat states this time it’s supposed to be permanent. Hopefully mubi will reverse this decision which I think is definitely a wrong one.

i agree.
that should be the philosophy of the internet taught 100s of years from now.

odilonvert

I have to say that if I were one of those kinds of people who is looking to generate notoriety, I don’t see Dimitris that way just conjecturing here, having a thread all to myself more than once, generated by others (not like RUS generating them about himself by himself), is a pretty good way to do it.

WOW. That’s all I can say.

Wonder if there’s anyone else on the forum who would command this kind of attention, from admin and users alike.

Well done.

Pose for a picture now, and can we kinda let things simmer down for Dim and admin and discuss this stuff out of the public eye? Maybe? It just seems like it might be better in terms of the potential for making it up… hoping anyway…

I don’t think that’s a very positive comment….I know I’m new around here but I don’t get the slightest impression of Santino being a troll….I like his posts.

Brentos

i’ve lurked on the site for years and i haven’t noticed anything wrong with Santino either.

perhaps Odi is right, maybe i should’ve just left well enough alone.

odilonvert

Sorry, but FUCK trolls. Seriously. Pathetic losers is what they are.

Santino is not a troll. Some people may have a problem with him, but BELIEVE ME I’ve experienced trolls and he is not one of them.

Dimitris is MUBi’s guilty pleasure. He will come back.

odilonvert

^ ^ Aaa no, let’s not turn this thread into a war zone. Guys, if you want to duke it out, go to that Cage thread. (not Nicholas, though he’s not my favorite actor…)

Uli Cain, Cinefidel¹³

any way we can go ahead and stop with this thread and just delete it?

By having these threads, all that happens is Dim buys into thinking he has this great Jediness, if Mubi cuts him down, he can only grow stronger.

Stop now and save the future.

odilonvert

^ YES, agreed, Uli. Stop now and save the future.
