If you can limit the amount of exposition in a script, and allow character action to be the engine moving the story forward, you give the actors more room to play. They can then triangulate off of one another in an ambiguous space where the characters’ choices are clear, but their motivations are not. And if you can achieve that, character and plot become the same thing, really.”
