[Ant-Man is] a zany comedy with an actual comedian, Paul Rudd, in the title role – a refreshing change for those of us who aren’t card-carrying comic-book geeks, though in truth it isn’t much of a change… Is Ant-Man a smart entertainment? As smart as a film about an ant-sized superhero can be.

The fights are well choreographed and for once not overlong, and the shrinking sequences are intermittently brilliant; visual and rhetorical echoes of The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) are presumably deliberate. Ant-Man is no masterpiece, but it is a plausible addition to the Marvel universe and a smart summer action comedy in its own right.

Compared with other recent superhero movies, Ant-Man feels neither bathetic nor excessively glib—it’s a superhero movie played, for the most part, as light, character-driven comedy… Director Peyton Reed, with his background in film comedy, deserves some credit for the relatable vibe. The conversations have a pleasing flow, and the characters seem to be telling jokes to each other rather than the audience. Yet it’s the lead performances—Douglas’s in particular—that give the movie ballast.

İnsanlar ne diyor?

  • Trevor Tillman's rating of the film Ant-Man

An outlier that, for the most part, benefits from having relative autonomy from the rest of Marvel Studios' serialized world-building. As a result, it felt less like bloated television finale, and refreshingly, more like like the '90s, action-comedy, family films from Disney I grew up on as a kid. It also proves to me that for Marvel, smaller is better (no pun intended).

  • Addy K.'s rating of the film Ant-Man

With a shell of a story, ANT MAN relies on the charms of its actors and its groovy macro cinematography to suck you in. Paul Rudd's "coming of age" as a father and the parallel with his mentor/boss Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) is on the nose, but it's just emotionally resonant enough to carry the film. Although there are many well-earned giggles, I was surprised that the film could've but didn't go for bigger laughs.

  • Christopher M. Jones's rating of the film Ant-Man

Surprisingly fun! There are some really creative action choices near the end of the film and the villain is very convincingly menacing. If it veered further from its boilerplate action/adventure plot formula it could've easily been one of my favorite popcorn movies of the decade.

  • HKFanatic's rating of the film Ant-Man

Exhibit B alongside "Guardians" that Marvel is at their best when providing light but idiosyncratic comic book entertainment. There's no denying that the most inventive bits here are likely holdovers from Edgar Wright's draft (The Cure's "Plainsong," anyone?), but Paul Rudd turns up the charm and the film links to "Avengers" continuity without feeling convoluted. This may be summer 2015's most pleasant surprise.

  • T. J. Mesen's rating of the film Ant-Man

Ant-Man is yet another bog-standard MCU film; it's somewhat fun, yet suffers from the lack of a compelling villain. In this case Wright's script gets to shine even if his particular style of visual comedy is absent (obviously). Hence, it looks different by the nature of its hero's powers of size reduction, but it's not very cinematically inventive in using this or in any other way.

  • Sefer Taslı Sapık's rating of the film Ant-Man

Poorly written, played and directed, yet had the chance to watch it with my baby love. Thefefore, 3 stars for the sake of love. And for the sake of that lovely tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NgKGX4jl_8

  • Murat Erdem's rating of the film Ant-Man

  • Ghostman's rating of the film Ant-Man

Has a few flaws but is great anyway. It's hard to tell how much better Edgar Right's directorial take would have been considering the fact he did the pre-viz scenes, it has the same cast and similar script and the movie has many obvious touches and themes present in his previous work. My guess it would have been better but that's no reason to hate on a fine piece of work. The cast is outstanding, all get to shine
