While housesitting for a distant cousin, Martín fabricates the existence of a vindictive ex-wife withholding his daughter in order to gain the sympathy of the single mother he has just met. As the return of the real family gets closer and closer, Martín’s pseudo-family begins to unravel.

Shot inside the director’s own home, Family Life is an intimate and uncomfortably funny look at domesticity through the eyes of a deadbeat single man. Although based on a lie, the exercise in imitation at the core of this unusual drama reveals some universal truths about our need for connection.
