I remember I always thought that this movie might’ve been bad based on Chris Stuckmann’s review of the movie and the way he explained it, I remember I was also interested in it during the time but after I heard what he said I was disappointed but still interested and didn’t believe I could be that bad but after I saw Beyond Ghibli’s video (great channel) I was happy and excited. If the film still follows the normal narrative way, the end result would be a complete but tasteless work. So the good thing is the anime adaptation chose a quite abstract and symbolic way/setting, which could brought the film into another ground. But they stuck in between those two styles, making the first hour terrible and boring. Even the last half hour dedicating to something bold and different can't help much.
